PXS Desktop — Support

PXS Desktop turns your iPhone into a desktop computer on any screen — AR glasses, a USB-C or HDMI monitor, a TV, an AirPlay display, or any web browser via AnyScreen. Your phone is the trackpad and keyboard; a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard work too.

Getting started

Four ways to get a screen, straight from the app's start page:

  1. Cable (best) — plug into AR glasses (Viture, XREAL, RayNeo, Rokid, Lenovo Legion Glasses), a USB-C monitor, or a TV via an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. The desktop appears instantly.
  2. Screen Mirroring — mirror to a Mac, Apple TV, or an AirPlay 2 TV from Control Center.
  3. AnyScreen — open bytenine.com/pxs in any browser on the same Wi-Fi or Personal Hotspot and type the pairing code. Works in a Tesla, too.
  4. Show on This Screen — run the desktop right on the device's own display (made for iPad).

The in-app Help app (in the dock) covers every feature in detail, including Mouse Mode setup, keyboard shortcuts, AnyScreen pairing, and the Daily Overview panel.

Known limitations — the honest list

We'd rather you know these before you ask:

  • DRM streaming: services that require Widevine DRM (for example Netflix in the browser) won't play — Apple devices only support FairPlay. YouTube, Vimeo, and most media sites work.
  • Typing in Mouse Mode: iOS hides the on-screen keyboard while a Bluetooth mouse is connected (a system rule). Pair a Bluetooth keyboard for typing in Mouse Mode.
  • Mouse Mode setup: a Bluetooth mouse needs AssistiveTouch enabled — a one-time setup the app guides you through.
  • The Home bar: a mouse click on the iPhone's Home bar exits to the Home Screen — an iOS pointer behavior no app can block. Turn on Guided Access (guided in-app) to lock your session.
  • Copy/paste works on a connected screen with a Bluetooth keyboard (⌘C / ⌘V). In "Show on This Screen" mode, touch text selection is still finicky — improvements are on the roadmap.
  • System notifications from other iOS apps can't appear on the desktop (an iOS limit); web notifications and PXS's own notifications do.
  • AnyScreen and protected video: hardware-protected video (and some 3D content) can't be captured into an AnyScreen stream. On a cable or AirPlay display everything renders.
  • Screen sharing in web calls: viewing others' shared screens works; sharing your screen from a web call isn't supported by iOS's web engine.

Troubleshooting quick hits

  • No picture on a cable display — use a USB-C cable or adapter that carries DisplayPort video (iPhone 15 or later). Charge-only cables show nothing.
  • Pointer feels off in Mouse Mode — set AssistiveTouch Tracking Sensitivity to about 30–50% and adjust Pointer Speed in PXS.
  • AnyScreen won't pair — phone and browser must be on the same network. In a car, enable Personal Hotspot before you start, and connect the car's browser to the hotspot.
  • A banner interrupts the pointer — turn on a Focus/Do Not Disturb while presenting.

Feature requests and bug reports

The fastest channel is in the app: Settings → Feedback on the desktop, or the ⓘ button → Send Feedback on the phone. Public reports appear on the PXS Desktop board where you can vote on what we build next — that list genuinely drives the roadmap.
