Tinnitus Relief System — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Tinnitus Relief System ("the app") is developed by ByteNine AS ("ByteNine", "we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how. In short: the app does not track you, does not show ads, and needs no account. It uses Firebase (Google) for anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, described below, and nothing else leaves your device.
What stays on your device
- Your listening — the sounds, tones and frequencies you play, your equalizer settings and presets, and the mixes you save are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. They are not sent to us or to Firebase.
- Your settings — theme, playback and audio-quality preferences, and whether you have completed the introduction are stored locally.
- The sound library — the app's sounds are built into the app. Playing them requires no internet connection.
The app does not ask for access to your microphone, location, contacts, photos or health data.
Usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase)
The app includes Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google. They tell us how many people use the app, how often, and whether it crashes, so we can fix problems and improve it.
- What is collected: that the app was installed and opened, how long it is used, app version, device model, iOS version, an approximate location derived from your IP address at the country/region level, and — if the app crashes — a crash report with technical details of the app's state.
- Identifier: Firebase creates a random identifier for your installation of the app. It is not the advertising identifier (IDFA): the app uses the Firebase build without advertising support, never asks for tracking permission, and never sets a user id. The statistics are not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
- Not collected: the sounds you listen to, your equalizer settings, your saved mixes, anything about your tinnitus or hearing, and your precise location.
- Where it goes: to Google's Firebase servers on our behalf. Google's own terms and privacy notice apply to the processing: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Retention: event data is kept for at most 14 months in Firebase; crash reports for 90 days.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information.
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising SDKs or the advertising identifier.
- We do not build a profile of you or track you across other apps or websites. The Firebase statistics above are anonymous and used only to improve the app.
Not a medical device
Tinnitus Relief System provides sound for relaxation and relief. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and the app does not collect health information.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device, including your saved mixes and settings. Firebase statistics are not linked to you, so we cannot find or remove an individual's data; questions about it can be sent to the address below.
