byteNine ("we," "our," or "us") operates Cool Clock Widgets (the "App"), a mobile application for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Personal Text Input: Custom text you enter for display on clocks or widgets
- Settings and Preferences: Your chosen clock styles, colors, fonts, backgrounds, and configurations
- Location Data: If you enable the Weather module, we request location access to provide local weather information
- Calendar Access: If you enable the Calendar module, we request access to display your upcoming events
- Photo Library Access: If you use custom backgrounds or the Photo Frame module, we request access to your photos
- Spotify Account: If you use the Spotify Playback module, we connect to your Spotify account via Spotify's official API
Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting
- Usage Data: Anonymous analytics about which features are used to help us improve the App
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Display clocks, widgets, and modules according to your preferences
- Provide weather forecasts based on your location (Weather module)
- Show your calendar events (Calendar module)
- Display your currently playing music (Media Playback and Spotify modules)
- Display news content (News module)
- Process in-app purchases through Apple
- Improve and optimize the App's performance
- Provide customer support
3. Third-Party Services
Our App uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob (Advertising)
We display ads through Google AdMob for non-Pro users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings.
Apple (In-App Purchases & WeatherKit)
All purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We also use Apple WeatherKit to provide weather data. Apple handles all payment information securely and weather requests are processed according to Apple's privacy standards.
MET Norway Weather API
We use MET Norway's free weather API as an alternative weather provider. Only your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is sent to retrieve forecasts. No personal information is shared.
Spotify Web API
If you use the Spotify Playback module, we connect to Spotify's API to display your currently playing track. We do not store your Spotify credentials.
Mediastack API
We use Mediastack to fetch news articles for the News module. No personal information is shared with this service.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Most of your data (settings, preferences, custom text) is stored locally on your device
- iCloud Sync: If enabled, your settings may sync across your devices via iCloud
- No Account Required: You do not need to create an account to use the App
- Purchase Data: Your purchase history is managed by Apple and stored in your Apple ID account
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: View your data stored in the App through Settings
- Delete: Remove your data by deleting the App or resetting settings
- Opt-Out of Ads: Upgrade to Pro to remove all advertisements
- Revoke Permissions: Disable location, calendar, or photo access in your device Settings at any time
- Manage Subscriptions: Cancel or modify subscriptions through Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
App Tracking Transparency
We comply with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) requirements. The App will request your permission before tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected
- Know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
- Say no to the sale of personal information
